This is a beautiful MIAMI-DADE Police Dept. commemorative challenge coin. Coin is about 1 9/16" in diameter and beautiful raised lettering on both sides. Reverse displays with St. Michael the Protector, Patron Saint of Police and the words "In God We Trust". Coin is contained in an acrylic snap tight holder. The Miami-Dade Police Dept, formerly known as the Metro-Dade Police Dept (1981-1997), Dade County Public Safety Dept (1957-1981) and the Dade County Sheriff's Office (1836-1957) is a full service county police dept serving Miami-Dade County. The MDPD has approx 4,700 employees, making it the largest police dept in the southeastern United States. The dept is still often referred by it's former name, the Metro-Dade Police or simply Metro. Miami-Dade Police officers are easily identified by their taupe/brown colored uniforms. Miami-Dade Police vehicles are identified by their green and white livery.
