Twenty-five years ago, Operation Desert Storm began in response to Iraq's invasion of Kuwait, with the U.S. leading a U.N.-authorized coalition force of thirty-four nations against Iraq. Prior to Operation Desert Storm, the U.S. led a six-month build-up of weapon systems in Southwest Asia that began immediately following the invasion of Kuwait on August 2, 1991.
